A 19-year-old was in critical condition after a police pursuit and crash last Thursday, officers said.
Police said they were patrolling the Pacific Highway at Tucabia about 15km east of Grafton when they tried to stop a speeding car around 7.45am Thursday.
Officers took chase when the driver failed to stop as directed but soon stopped owing to the manner of driving.
A second chase started later, before the driver is alleged to have done a U-turn at Dirty Creek, crashing into the path of an oncoming truck.
The accused driver, a 19-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man, was not injured; but taken to Grafton Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police declared a critical incident and say they’re investigating the crash.
