Police have charged a 41-year-old man in relation to the alleged murder of another man and a car chase over the weekend.
Emergency services were reportedly called to Ballanda Crescent in IIulka about 4.30pm Saturday in response to a man armed with a knife having forced his way into a home and attacked the resident.
Officers from the Coffs-Clarence Police District and paramedics attended but say the 58-year-old man died at the scene.
A short time later, police say they tried to stop a man driving a 4WD ute north along the Pacific Highway and took chase when he ignored their directions.
The police chase is said to have continued north from Iluka to Woodburn, where highway police set up road spikes.
The ute continued onto Uralba Street in Woodburn, where police were able to arrest the 41-year-old driver.
He’s charged with murder as well as offences related to the police chase and has had bail refused while he awaits court in February.
