
Winds of more than 125 kilometres per hour and hail were recorded in Lismore during the storm.
State Emergency Services say they had received up to 46 requests for help by late Monday morning and responded to 21.
The Lismore SES unit has thanked volunteers from Casino and Ballina, as well as RFS volunteers and the Lismore City Council for help.
South of Wardell in the Broadwater, Woodburn and Evans Head area, 3,527 residences are recorded as having lost power around five-thirty pm Sunday.
They’re not expected to have it again until at least four o’clock today.
Outages are also recorded in scattered areas in and around Lismore including in South Lismore, Lismore Heights and at Southern Cross University.
The SES is reminding people to stay away from power lines during storms and in the aftermath.
