A sixteen-year-old boy is to appear in court in January charged with offences related to an alleged home invasion and car theft at Lennox Head early Friday morning.
Police say they were called to Gibbon Street, Lennox Head, around 12.20am Friday in response to a home invasion.
Three unknown people are said to have entered the home and threatened the occupants, two men aged 36 and 37, with a knife.
They are accused of demanding keys to a Kia Sportage and a Mitsubishi Pajero parked at the property before leaving the location in the two vehicles.
Police say they tried to stop the Mitsubishi around 12.35am in Lennox Head and took chase when the driver failed to stop before stopping a short time later in Woodburn.
The same vehicle was allegedly spotted again in Coraki, prompting a second police chase that continued to Elm Place in Casino.
The occupants then allegedly stopped, got out and fled on foot.
Officers also say they found and tried to stop the Kia travelling along Queensland Road in Casino but took chase through the town before the vehicle came to a stop on McDougall Street and the occupants fled on foot.
The two vehicles have been seized for forensic examination.
Police say investigations led to the arrest on Saturday of a 16-year-old boy.
He’s charged with several offences related to the alleged break and enter, police chase, knife possession and threats.
The teenager has been refused bail and is to appear at a children’s court on Friday 10 January 2025.
