On 19 December 2022, Widjabul Wia-bal’s native title determination was held in Goonellabah.
This was a momentous occasion for the community as Widjabul Wia-bal’s native title rights and interests were recognised by the Federal Court of Australia.
This year the Widjabul Wia-bal were successful in lobbying Lismore City Council to gazette 19 December as a ‘Local Event Day’. This event will be the first of its kind in the region.
Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate Widjabul Wia-bal Day tomorrow at Heaps Oval in Lismore, between Oakes Oval and Lismore Square.
Live music

The artist line-up is headlined by ARIA Award winner JK-47.
As well as the music, there will be stalls, Blak markets, BBQ, jarjums activities, dances, an Elders Tent, and more.
Organisers say they would like this day to be a celebration for the whole community.
