
While Soul Street got under way in Byron Bay and the strains of McGregors Family Carnival wafted along the Brunswick River, the band struck their first few chords at the hotel and The Loveys busked a few songs at the Sound Shell and it was a perfect start to the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The police were making themselves known as early as 7pm on the streets as dozens of families and friends shared a rug and a glass in Terrace Park – the weather was more than generous in neither sweltering or raining, as was predicted.
And it was nice.
