For anyone who has to go to the new Tweed Valley Hospital parking is a significant problem. It is such a problem that when you speak to staff to arrange your appointments they highlight the issue and remind you to come early to see if you can get a park so you are not late to your appointments.
Today 130 additional free car parking spaces, along with upgrades to existing parking areas for patients, visitors and staff at Tweed Valley Hospital has been announced.
‘The additional car parking spaces and enhancements will be delivered following an operational review into the transport and traffic arrangements at the new hospital,’ said a press release from Ryan Park, Minister for Health and Minister for Regional Health
‘The upgrades will maximise available space across the campus and improve the efficiency of existing car parking areas.’
Northern NSW LHD Chief Executive Tracey Maisey said ‘Additional parking will make a real difference to our patients, visitors, surrounding neighbours and businesses, and especially to our staff whose care and dedication has contributed to the success of our new Hospital since its opening in May last year.
‘We’re confident these practical steps will improve access to the hospital campus and ensure we continue to deliver first class healthcare to our community.’
Key enhancements include 130 new street-level car parking spaces, as well as the installation of new signage, line marking, and enhanced parking management systems.
‘We’ve listened to valuable feedback from Tweed Valley Hospital staff and the community, and I’m delighted to announce we will deliver additional car parking to further enhance access to the hospital and vital health services for the local community,’ said Minister Park.
Federal Member for Richmond Justine Elliot said, ‘Thanks to the NSW Labor Government for delivering an additional 130 free car parking spaces at the new Tweed Valley Hospital, now taking the number of free car parking spaces to more than 1,300. Thanks to all in our community who fought so hard for this free parking commitment and the additional free car parking spaces.’
