With a temperature that only got down as far as 22º, residents felt the heat last night as power and ceiling fans, dropped out.
Over 1,800 customers in parts of Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach and surrounds, had their power interrupted this morning around 1.30am.
An Essential Energy spokesperson this morning said that safety equipment automatically operated, following a fault being detected on the electricity network. ‘This was to keep the community and customers safe until crews could investigate.
‘Crews were deployed immediately, commencing ground patrols, partially restoring power to some customers as sections of the electricity network were cleared of any safety concerns.’
Fault located at Ocean Shores
The fault was located on Sewerage Depot Road, off the Pacific Highway Ocean Shores.
The spokesperson said staff were able to isolate the fault, and the majority of customers were restored at approximately 9am, leaving two customers currently without power.
‘Crews will complete any repairs needed as quickly as safety will allow and thanks customers for their patience.
