Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was on the North Coast last Friday to announce that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $3 million for a North Coast Crime Prevention Infrastructure Action Plan.

Mr Albanese told a small group of invited media – a group which The Echo was not part of – that the $3 million commitment will fund infrastructure measures for crime prevention and community safety in North Coast communities. This includes $1 million each for three Local Government Areas – Tweed Shire Council, Ballina Shire Council, and Byron Shire Council.

Prime Minister a great friend of the North Coast

Local member for Labor, Justine Elliot, said the Prime Minister has always been a great friend of the North Coast. ‘He understands our region well, and now he’s back here for this important announcement.’

‘As a former frontline police officer, I know first-hand how important it is that we have more resources, including CCTVs, to combat crime on the North Coast.

Money well spent

Mr Albanese posed the question. ‘How can this million dollars make a difference? CCTV, additional lighting, making sure that practically, on the ground, every single dollar is well spent.’

Mrs Elliot said the funding will allow local councils to deliver CCTV, lighting, bollards, fencing and landscaping. ‘This will improve community safety and reduce crime risks, while enhancing the vibrancy and usability of shared community spaces.’

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Poor old Ablo, now its him running scared from the media.
And what a gem his “…on the ground, every single dollar is well spent.”, indeed, that $’s100,000 of Splendour Splendid Spenda…where’s our refund Aldo and Justine?

  2. Albo is on the ‘crime wave’furphy.
PC Dutton has alreadt been there I think.
And what do the statistics say?
Crime rate is falling, falling , falling…. but you would never know to hear the scaremongers.

  3. How good is it to see our hardworking Federal MP Justine Elliott and PM Anthony Albanese once again delivering much needed infrastructure for our area to combat the latest increase in crime and make our community more safe. If the crazy Greens hade their way general duties Police Officers would be stripped of their firearms and tazers, can you believe the stupidity of some people????????, it’s no wonder the Greens are suddenly running scared on the law and order issue, shame on you Greens.

    • Keithy, Ablo and the Justine, the fizzer duo, in town together, they should have made themselves useful just for for once and gotten our $’s100,000 of Splendour Splendid Spenda back.
But no, its our money tossed away without a second thought or care in the world , by the fizzer duo. There’s the real shame Keithy my boy.

        • Rod, time to wake up.
Your 90%LabLibNatYesalition ( Dutto apologises for that missing 10%🤣) just got together once again – is 90% of the time not enough for you Rod – their stitch up that is ‘supposed’ electoral law reform.
          Lets Go, LabLibNatYesalition.🤯

        • And Rod, our 💲’s100,00 Splendour Splendid Spenda, nothing to say. How about you get onto your fizzer duo mates Albo and Justine, we want our Refund.

        • Liz, the Greens’ Adam and Larissa have said plenty, along with the Independents, in opposing the LabLibNatYesalition rubbish new election funding rules.

  4. Albo’s initiatives match his tie selection, same old, same old. Sprinkle a bit of money around with a cheesey smile and voters will jump for joy. He deserves to be booted, but who do we replace him with. Surely not with slippery Dutts
