Update: Evacuate now Lismore CBD and East Lismore

‘You must evacuate now because forecasted heavy rainfall will close evacuation routes. Cyclonic wind gusts may cause roads to be blocked and power outages may occur,’ said the SES.

‘You should evacuate to stay with family, friends, or alternate accommodation in areas unaffected by flooding.’

If you are unable to find accommodation go the the evacuation centre that has been set up at Southern Cross University, Military Road, East Lismore NSW.

The SES has issued and emergency warning directing people in the Lismore CBD, East Lismore and South Lismore to evacuate before 9pm tonight. 

Areas to evacuate are:

• Lismore CBD and surrounds, including low lying parts of Molesworth, Coleman and Brunswick Streets near the river.
• East Lismore in the vicinity of Wade park

Where to go?

If you are unable to find accommodation an evacuation centre has been set up at Southern Cross University, Military Road, East Lismore NSW.

‘If you remain in the area, you may become trapped without power, water, and other essential services. It may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you, and buildings may not be able to withstand the impact of flood water,’ said the SES.
