Police say local officers and water police have continued to search over the weekend on the Northern Rivers for a missing Queensland police officer.
A co-ordinated multiagency land and sea search for 45-year-old officer Jay Notaro was suspended around one o’clock Friday afternoon after four days.
Mr Notaro was reported missing at Broken Head last Tuesday, with his surf board found on the beach Tuesday morning and his vehicle in a nearby car park later that day.
Police said the officer was visiting the region on some rostered days off and is known to be a strong swimmer.
Police Marine Command, PolAir, NSW Marine Rescue and NSW Surf Life Saving volunteers were all involved in the search, with police divers on-scene Friday but failing to find any more clues as to the officer’s disappearance.
Mr Notaro’s family have also been on-scene.
Local police are still investigating and say they don’t suspect foul play.
Police have issued public thanks to those who have volunteered in the search and to the local community for their support.
