Spaghetti Circus will celebrate the official opening of its upgraded Mullumbimby Showground facilities, following $1.2 million in investment from Create NSW.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy performances and food on Saturday, May 10 from 12 till 1.30pm to celebrate the new buildings and upgrades.
Alice Cadwell, Spaghetti Circus General Manager, told The Echo the funding was secured through three infrastructure grants and has, ‘enabled vital flood protection works, equipment upgrades, and significant improvements to the company’s Mullumbimby home base’.
Hit by 2022 floods
‘The 2022 floods overwhelmed Spaghetti Circus’ home at Mullumbimby Showground, causing extensive damage to their infrastructure and destroying a significant amount of equipment.
‘It took a huge community effort to salvage, clean and repair Spaghetti Circus’ sheds to a level where our training program and classes could resume,’ she said.
As part of the upgrades, Alice says the grants funded the purchase of a forklift – essential for raising the big top tent – as well as expanded costume storage, the construction of a new workshop shed, and the implementation of critical flood mitigation works, such as improved drainage and the repair of water access points across the site.
‘The upgrades were also completed with in-kind support from Spaghetti Circus volunteers and community’, Alice added.
