We were excited to be among the guests at the Stone and Wood’s Stone Brew Day last week.
It was a special occasion that they take seriously and with much pride. This is an alchemist’s happy place!
The team outlined our night, which included beer tastings, a yummy roast by 100 Mile Table, and of course the ritual of placing red-hot stones from the fire pit into the wort. The resulting beer will become a limited release.

The knowledge the staff shared was impressive, to say the least.
Thank you, Stone & Wood for putting on a great night!
We witnessed the hot volcanic stones being carefully pulled out of the fire, and while still glowing red, they were lowered into the wort – the pre-fermented liquid that later ferments into beer.
The resulting beer will become a limited release.
We were then guided to awaiting tables and spoilt with a delicious roast meal, compliments of the 100 Mile Table.
Waste not wasted
We were pleasantly surprised to discover what happens to the waste – nothing goes to waste!
Thanks to CF Group, Sustainable Waste Haulage, all foods and liquid waste can be turned to compost, as they have the facilities to recycle not just soil sludge, liquid food waste, but glass bottles, timber pallets and much more.

Thank you Stone & Wood for putting on a great night!
Keep an eye out for Festival Of The Stone, now in its 11th year. It will take place on Saturday, June 14 for the tapping of Stone & Wood’s annual batch, plus wicked tunes from musical maestros, all in support of the Fletcher Street Cottage.
