A woman has died after a two-vehicle crash near Tweed Heads earlier today (Monday, 30 June).
About 7.30am, emergency services were called to Tweed Valley Way, Tumbulgum, following reports of a crash.
At the scene, officers found a hatchback and SUV had collided head-on.
The driver of the hatchback was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene; however, was unable to be revived.
While yet to be formally identified, she is believed to be 85 years old.
The driver of the SUV – a 43-year-old woman – sustained minor injuries and was taken to Tweed Valley Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established and inquiries into the crash are underway by Tweed/Byron Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit.
