A police blitz in Ballina has resulted in nearly twenty fines issued for shoplifting and one arrest.
Richmond Police District officers say they’ve increased high-visibility patrols in areas including local shopping centres, public spaces, and public transport hubs in recent months to enhance community safety.
Uniformed and plain-clothes police held a joint operation with operators of Ballina shopping centres and businesses last week aimed at detecting and disrupting crime.
They report issuing nineteen criminal infringement notices for shoplifting over two days, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 July, and arresting one on an outstanding warrant.
Officers say similar operations will continue across the Richmond Police District.
