
The Byron Shire Rebels Rugby will pay tribute to Paul ‘Campo’ Campton this Saturday as they host Casuarina in Bangalow.
‘It’s with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Paul ‘Campo’ Campton, who lost his life in a hit and run in Bangalow early Sunday morning,’ said a spokesperson for the Rebels.
64-year-old Paul Campton was struck by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning in Bangalow with emergency services responding at around 3.30am on Sunday, 6 July. They were responding to reports a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Raftons Road, Bangalow.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated Mr Campton; however, he died at the scene.

Remembering Campo
‘Campo was a true Rebel – a club legend, a gentleman of the game, and someone who embodied everything great about our community. His impact on the Rebels and everyone who knew him is immeasurable,’ said the Rebels.
‘This Saturday, as we host Casuarina in Bangalow, we’ll honour Campo with a minute of clapping before each senior match. Come down, come together and pay tribute to the great man. Our deepest love and thoughts go out to Campo’s family. Campo was, and forever will be, a Rebel.’

Police and family are appealing for information following a fail to stop crash that took Mr Campton’s life.
Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District established a crime scene which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
