This criminal act could have triggered an environmental disaster on the scale of Chernobyl or Fukushima. It’s exactly the sort of threat that anti-nuclear activists have been warning about for decades. And it was done in the name of ending a non-existent nuclear weapons program.
This cynical hypocrisy has done long-term damage to the credibility and legitimacy of the international system for nuclear regulation, and irreparable harm to the reputation and political standing of the US and Israel.
