Local police say they arrested and charged 29 people in the Tweed Heads and Byron Bay police stations last week with more than 50 combined offences.
Nine of those arrested were charged for assault in a domestic violence context.
A tenth was charged for assaulting a police officer in a Byron Bay church.
Police say the domestic violence arrests included a 32-year-old Mullumbimby woman also alleged to have been in possession of an unauthorised pistol and ammunition, which officers say they found in her bedroom.
She had her bail refused and is to appear at Byron Bay Local Court today.
Seven wanted DV offenders
The arrests come as police across the state engage in their eleventh Operation Amarok, focussed on high-risk domestic violence offenders.
Tweed Byron Police say they have an outstanding arrest warrant for Scott Faraher, wanted for a breach of order relating to domestic violence offences.
The say Scott Faraher is known to frequent the Tweed Heads and Fingal Heads area but that he possibly travelled to Queensland by boat.
Richmond Police District officers say they’re looking for six people wanted for domestic violence offences: Latroy Silva, Jeremy Rose, Jayden O’Driscoll, Taryll Cowan, and Tyreese Byers.
Ten people caught driving without valid licence
Meanwhile, nineteen people have been charged with traffic offences in the space of a week in the Tweed Byron district, including five for drink driving and two for driving under the influence of prohibited drugs.
Officers say they charged two people for driving whilst never having held a licence, five for driving whilst disqualified and three for driving whilst suspended.
