Richmond Police say they’ve charged a 24-year-old man with an outstanding warrant after finding multiple firearm parts at a property in Nimbin.
Officers say they attended the property on Nimbin’s Thorburn Street, around 12.15pm Thursday 28 August having received reports of an illegal firearm in possession there.
They say they saw a man running away and a search of the area led to the discovery of a 24-year-old man in a bathroom at a home on Silky Oak Drive.
He was taken to Lismore Police Station and charged in relation to carrying a knife and over an outstanding warrant for driving a motor vehicle while his licence was disqualified.
He’s had his bail refused and is to appear before Lismore Local Court on 10 September.
Police say a later search of the Thornburn Street home led to the seizure of firearm parts and ammunition, with more inquiries to continue.
