Police say they are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a man following a crash on the M1 southbound at Bangalow at around 2.35pm on Thursday, 2 October.
Emergency services were called following reports of a two-vehicle crash, and police say they believed two vehicles – an SUV and a four-wheel-drive – had collided.
The crash caused long traffic delays with the lanes closed.
The police statement reads, ‘The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified’.
‘The driver of the other vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries’.
A crime scene has been established and inquiries into the incident are underway by the Crash Investigation Unit.
