With hot, windy conditions forecast for today, a Total Fire Ban has been declared for the North Coast, Northern Slopes, Far North Coast and New England regions for Monday 27 October.
The Total Fire Ban, commences at midnight tonight, Sunday, October 26 and covers the following council areas:
Far North Coast (EXTREME) – Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley, Tweed
New England (EXTREME) – Glen Innes Severn, Tenterfield, Uralla, Walcha, Armidale
North Coast (EXTREME) – Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Kempsey, Nambucca, Mid-Coast
Northern Slopes (EXTREME) – Gunnedah, Gwydir, Inverell, Liverpool Plains, Tamworth
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) provides the following advice.
Under Extreme fire conditions:
Take action now to protect your life and property.
These are dangerous fire conditions.
Check your bush fire plan and ensure that your property is fire ready.
If a fire starts, take immediate action.
If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts.
Reconsider travel through bush fire risk areas.
