Tweed-Byron Police say that from November 13 – 19, 21 people were arrested and charged at Tweed Heads and Byron Bay Police Stations, with a variety of offences.
‘In total, 64 people had legal action taken against them’ police said.
Notably, 27 people were charged with traffic related offences, including 12 DUIs; four unlicensed driving (all were repeat offenders); three charges for driving under the influence of drugs; and two charges for driving stolen motor vehicles.
Two police pursuit charges and two charges for driving stolen motor vehicles were also recorded.
Ten DV charges
Police say ten people were charged with domestic violence (DV) related offences.
‘In total there were six charges for assault in a domestic violence context, five charges for contravening Apprehended Violences Orders (AVO), one charge for stalking/intimidation and one charge for damaging property.
Eleven people were charged for shoplifting and larceny, say police.
‘Nine people were charged with drug possession and cultivation; two people were charged for possessing knives; and one person was charged with a sexual touching offence against a child’.
Operation E-Voltage
‘Enforcement action continued this week in the Byron Bay area, where a number of e-bike riders were stopped by police in relation to traffic offences, including the non-wearing of helmets. A number of legal actions were initiated, and enforcement action will continue particularly leading into the ‘Schoolies’ period to ensure the on-going safety of riders, pedestrians and other road users’.
‘Last week from Wednesday 12 to Saturday 15 November 2025, NSW Police Force undertook Operation AMAROK XII focusing on Domestic Violence. Statewide, 752 offenders were charged with 1,629 offences.
