Police say they’re investigating the seizure of firearms and parts during a compliance search in the Lower Rivers sector of the Richmond Police District last Friday.
Ongoing proactive operations are said to be happening in the Wardell, Pimlico and Empire Vale areas as part of rural crime investigations under Operation Philvor.
A multi-department Firearms Prohibition Order compliance search that included a federal police Firearms Detection Dog was carried out at a home on Gubay Road in Wardell around 8.20am Friday 28 November.
Officers said they found and seized a rifle, two pistols, firearms parts and ammunition, triggering the establishment of a crime scene and more searches that led to the seizure of mobile phones and cannabis plants, which police said were to undergo forensic examination.
Drones and trail bikes used in mass police op
Around 10.40am that same day, more police from several departments carried out search warrants at another five address, using drones, highway patrol officers and trail bikes.
Officers said the operation failed to result in arrests and that investigations under Operation Philvor were ongoing.
