Richmond Valley Council is undertaking a community conversation and engagement on the future of the Casino town centre, including nearby streets and the South Casino shopping precinct.
Staff say, ‘Over the coming months, we’ll be working with design and planning experts Arcadia, Willowtree Planning, and Jigsaw Planning to create a masterplan that will help shape a vibrant, welcoming, and connected town centre’.
‘The project will look at ideas to:
- ‘Make our streets more attractive, walkable and better connected to the Richmond River, nearby parks and the rail trail
- ‘Celebrate Casino’s Art Deco character and heritage charm
- ‘Encourage more tourism, events, and visitor stays
- ‘Explore new housing options close to the CBD to support local businesses and town vitality through a review of land use controls.
