The letter to the editor on January 7 by Max DeBoos entitled ‘Council’s parking blitz’ is an example of how unaccountable this Council is. It seems to me that their compliance officers simply strike when they can, no commonsense applied, just revenue-raising.
A Qld-registered car has been parked illegally for numerous hours a day, plus slept in, when Council’s signage states no camping.
This car was reported to Council months ago, but no action taken – it is still there to this day. Our mayor came down for the opening of the wetlands project, the mayor is aware of this vehicle. Mayor, on your way out of Byron did you actually have a look at this vehicle in Cowper Street?
People are being fined for illegal parking every day but this car remains.
