How much empty rhetoric and breathtaking hypocrisy are we supposed to tolerate?
The events at Bondi were tragic, however if the Jewish community really want to improve their image and attempt to eliminate alleged antisemitism perhaps mainstream Jewish leaders in Australia should call on their government to stop killing Palestinians. Now there’s an idea. People around the world are disgusted at what Israel is doing including many Jewish Australians.
People may like to read media releases by the Jewish Council of Australia.
The latest figures from the UN have 70,900 civilians (and continuing) since October ’23, mostly woman and children, as well as 10,000 missing as well as untold numbers of amputees. And let’s not get started with the last 75 years of ethnic cleansing or illegal settler violence in the west bank, or Australia supplying weapon parts to Israel, or using starvation as a weapon of war. Politicians need to wake up.
Perhaps Labor voters could call on the government to sanction the Israeli PM as the International Court of Justice has recommended. But what does the government do? Beginning to restrict people’s right to protest and initiate ‘gun reform’ so now we can all own four guns!
This is Labor’s weapons reform in action, what a dangerous joke.
Why is a government and Israeli PM accused of war crimes setting the agenda in this country? Will we see a national day of mourning for Palestinians? Perhaps this could coincide with the visit by the Israeli president?
Australians should have the right to call out other countries genocidal actions because we are not threatening anyone or inciting violence. The newly appointed Jewish envoy Jillian Segal has a history of being a pro-Israel Jewish lobbyist. We have the right to challenge her proposals, however mainstream journalists and media organisations seem to lack the intelligence or courage to do this. Instead they demonise peaceful protesters who are crying out about the unprecedented horror unfolding. Chris Minns is a disgrace for calling protesters antisemitic.
It’s astounding that ASIO, with a budget of over $700 million and with a staff of over 2,000 and powers which can reach into Australians’ private lives, were unable to link a suburban gun cache to a known extremist connection. Incredibly, they have bipartisan support for budget increases regardless of performance.
Some politicians are calling for a royal commission into the Bondi shooting, which will cost millions.
I can tell them the root cause and it won’t cost a cent. How many wars and suffering over hundreds of years has been driven by organised religious elitism? And for those who want to argue the point, for any acknowledged good they may do, religious organisations don’t have a monopoly on kindness and compassion. All Australians are equal and minorities must feel safe.
Enough with the spin and blah, blah, blah.
