
Severe thunderstorms have produced flash flooding in north east NSW, with roads around Mullumbimby and Billinudgel now flooded – and dangerous. Please do not attempt to cross flooded roads.
The BOM predicting there is more to come around Murwillumbah and Numinbah.
Helen St Bridge (Brunswick Heads) recorded 103mm in 3 hours to 4:30am, according to the BOM, and Doon Doon recorded 162mm in the 6 hours to 8:45am.
Parts of Main Arm are reportedly cut off from floodwaters.
Safety advice
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don’t walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
