
The Lismore City Council is calling for Expressions of Interest for future use of the former greyhound race track site on Molesworth Street.
The move comes after Greyhound Racing NSW proposed giving the site to the council and to support the council’s decision on its future use.
The agency said via a statement last Friday the racetrack was deemed ‘no longer viable’.
The site has been permanently closed to racing since the 2022 flood and landslide disasters.
Multiple major wet weather events since ex-Cyclone Debbie in March 2017 have resulted in ‘expensive and time consuming renovations to the track and facilities’, the agency’s statement read.
