A 29-year-old woman is due to face court later this month accused of assaulting a nurse at Lismore Base Hospital.
Officers from the Richmond Police District said last week the woman became violent while receiving treatment on 16 January, thrashing and kicking the nurse in the stomach and thigh.
She is also said to have bitten the nurse’s right index finger, causing a puncture wound that will require ongoing medical treatment and to have tried to bite a security guard.
Police said they found and arrested the woman a week later, on 24 January, and charged her with assaulting a frontline health worker and causing bodily harm.
She was due to appear before Lismore Local Court on 23 February.
