A Bluesfest media spokesperson has confirmed that the Streets Alive Brunswick Heads event, which was ancillary to the now cancelled Bluesfest, will no longer proceed on 28–29 March.
They said in a statement, ‘The event was planned as part of the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, supported by Transport for NSW, and was set to bring a series of community-focused activations to Brunswick Heads and surrounding Northern Rivers towns’.
‘While this outcome is disappointing, we appreciate the support provided through the Open Streets Program, which aims to create vibrant, people-focused community experiences.
‘We would like to thank Transport for NSW, state and local government, local businesses, community groups, artists, partners, suppliers, and all those who contributed to planning the event’, they said.
In correspondence provided to The Echo from the Events Agency, they said, ‘any stallholder payments received as part of the application have been refunded’.
The Echo asked the Bluesfest spokesperson to confirm the government funds for this event are now with the liquidators, and also how much money it was. A reply will be published if/when received.
