We have heard a great deal about red lines or lines in the sand, which, if crossed, incur heavy penalties on the offender.
Australians have the right to know if red lines exist in Australia’s relationship with both Israel and the United States. I suspect we do not currently have red lines for these two nations.
Australia aids and abets both Israel and the United States by hosting US bases on Australian soil and by sharing intelligence gleaned by Pine Gap from multiple satellite sources, which is used to prosecute wars initiated by the United States and shared with its allies, particularly Israel. So, like it or not, Australia is deeply complicit in the genocide taking place in Gaza, the mass bombings of Iranian infrastructure, and the horrific attacks on Lebanon, which saw Israel drop a hundred bombs within ten minutes, killing hundreds of innocent people.
Australia needs to urgently initiate red line criteria for both nations, which quite clearly they have already breached. This means that the ANZUS alliance between Australia and the United States should be cancelled immediately, and the US ordered to remove all its bases and military assets out of this country. We should expel the Israeli ambassador immediately and join with countries like Spain and Norway in upholding international law.
