Local health authorities are accepting expressions of interest in advisory group membership for the Northern NSW Local Health District.
The district has community advisory groups throughout the region, operating in hospitals at Ballina, Byron, Lismore-Casino, Grafton, Maclean, Murwillumbah and Tweed.
The groups meet every two months to hear updates from across the district, share ideas and experiences, raise concerns, and contribute to special projects that help improve services.
The Multi-Purpose Service network servicing Bonalbo, Kyogle, Nimbin and Urbenville is also part of the scheme and there are service-specific advisory groups for mental health, alcohol and other drugs recovery services and Aboriginal health.
Patients, carers and community members from a wide range of backgrounds are being encouraged to apply.
NNSWLHD Chief Executive Tracey Maisey said in today’s announcement that authorities were keen to build diverse advisory groups that reflect the community.
‘We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, people of all ages, genders and sexual orientations, and those with lived experience of the health system,’ Ms Maisey said.
Successful applicants are to receive a nominal payment for each meeting to cover out-of-pocket expenses, in accordance with the NSW Health Consumer Remuneration Guideline.
Applications are to close Friday 30 May 2026.
