Former NSW Blues and Manly Sea Eagles prop Brent Kite will be joining the local community this Sunday evening for a free, family-friendly event marking the countdown to NRL State of Origin Game 1, as the iconic Norfolk pine at Rowan Robinson Park is switched to NSW Blues blue.
Kite will perform the switch-on ceremony at 5.45pm on Sunday, 24 May, just days before the Blues take the field for Game 1 at Accor Stadium, Sydney on Wednesday, 27 May.
The event has been organised by Business Kingscliff in partnership with Tweed Shire Council, will bring together the Tweed Shire community, with players, juniors, and families all welcome to cheer on the Blues.
‘The Norfolk pine has become a genuine focal point for our community since the lights were installed in April, and this is exactly the kind of moment we imagined when we set out on that project,’ said James Owen, President of Business Kingscliff and Tweed Shire Councillor.
