Commemorating the memory of the founding members of the Lennox Head Lions Club, who originally initiated The John Mitchell Memorial Golf Event as a major fundraiser, the annual golf tournament will take place on Sunday, 16 August at the Byron Bay Golf Course.
They are calling on all golfers to come and take part in the fun event that will aim to raise $20,000 to be distributed between the local Westpac Helicopter Service and Byron Bay’s Fletcher Street Cottage.
‘Both these organisations play pivotal roles in the welfare of our communities with the Westpac Helicopter in numerous local rescue missions, while Fletcher Street Cottage co-ordinates an expanding role of protecting vulnerable women during increasingly difficult economic times. They also provide meals and emergency accommodation for the disadvantaged. These are truly two deserving recipients which seriously need our support,’ organisers told The Echo.
