Lismore High Campus say that twelve of their students have worked alongside teachers, local tradespeople and industry professionals one day a week for three school terms to design and build a tiny home.
The project helped them gain ‘practical experience across construction trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and cabinetry’.
A campus media spokesperson said, ‘The tiny home will be auctioned at Primex, Lismore Showgrounds, on Friday 22 May (today), with registrations from 4pm and the auction commencing at 4.30pm’.
‘The auction follows the success of Lismore High’s first tiny home, which sold for $65,000 in 2025 and helped fund this year’s student build.
‘Proceeds from this year’s auction will support future student projects, continuing the legacy of the program Tiny Homes @ Lismore High, helping more students gain hands-on skills, industry connections and pathways into apprenticeships, traineeships and further training’.
Lismore High Campus Principal Mr Williams said the project was giving students authentic learning opportunities with a lasting impact.
‘This project is about more than building a tiny home,’ Mr Williams said.
‘It is about building confidence, skills, pathways and hope for young people.
‘The 12 Year 9 and 10 students are gaining real industry experience while creating something that leaves a lasting legacy for future students and the wider community.’
The Tiny Homes @ Lismore High project is supported by Regional Industry Education Partnerships and local industry partners.
