NSW Police have reported that a fisherman has died after being swept off the rocks yesterday at Evans Head.
Shortly after 11am on Sunday, emergency services were called to Conner Hurley Point lookout, following reports a rock fisherman was swept into the water.
Officers attached to Richmond Police District with the assistance of Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and attempted to assist the man; however, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
Initial inquiries have led police to believe the man was fishing on a rock wall nearby when he was swept into the water.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
