Public support is being sought to help wheelchair-bound former Paralympic athlete gold medalist Tracy Barrell with her living expenses after an alleged National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) decision reduced her ability to be fed and assisted.
Dylan Russo has appealed to the public through GoFundMe and says ‘NDIS have cut her 24/7 package to a level that she will not be able to survive living at home on her own’.
He says, ‘Tracy has represented our country in the Barcelona Paralympics and is a dual gold medalist. Tracy is an active member of the community and a strong advocate for accessibility and inclusion’.
‘Tracy has always been the first to put her hand up to help people and now she needs our help, she is completely wheelchair bound and has relied on 24/7 care for the last 4 years.
‘The new package will only fund her to get dressed in the morning and eat breakfast.

‘Two hours will not cover Tracy’s required medical appointments or any social interaction. ‘All of Tracy’s medical specialists have said that not having 24/7 care will put her at very high risk of fall.
‘The funds raised will be used to pay carers to maintain the level of care Tracy requires until we are able to have this ridiculous NDIS decision overturned’, he says.
