Northern Rivers locals are once again being encouraged to swap business attire, school uniforms, team shirts and everyday clothes for something a little more colourful by wearing a tutu on Friday 31 July to help raise funds for Our Kids.
Organisers say, ‘First launched last year, Tutu Day has quickly captured the imagination of the Northern Rivers community, with local clubs leading the way by proudly pulling on their tutus to support Our Kids’.
‘Among the early supporters are Ballina RSL Club, Cherry Street Sports Club, Ballina Golf Club, Lismore Workers Club, Club Lennox, local Mayors Sharon Cadwallader (Ballina Shire Council) and Steve Krieg (Lismore City Council), Cyberry and the Our Kids team, all embracing the fun while raising vital funds for local paediatric medical equipment.
‘The campaign has continued to grow, with many local businesses, workplaces, schools, sporting clubs and community groups now joining the movement.
‘Our vision is to see Tutu Day become a Northern Rivers tradition,’ Ms Battista said.
‘We’d love to see people wearing tutus in every workplace, every school, every sporting club and every community group across the region. The more people who get involved, the more we can do to support local sick children and their families.
‘Whether you’re at work, school, the gym, playing a team sport or catching up with friends, we encourage everyone to join in. Wear a tutu on Friday 31 July or anytime that week and let’s spread some tutu love throughout the Northern Rivers!
‘Participants can register as individuals or create a team with colleagues, classmates, friends or family. Fundraising can be as simple as making a gold coin donation to wear a tutu or encouraging supporters to sponsor your efforts.
‘The campaign promises plenty of laughs, colourful photos and community spirit, all while raising awareness and vital funds to help sick children get the care they need closer to home.
‘So, dust off your brightest tutu, gather your team and join the Northern Rivers in making a difference one twirl at a time!
