After stepping away from the role for 12 months, Mandy Nolan returned to Byron Adult Education to teach what Mandy believes is the best, and possibly most successful stand up comedy course in the country.
‘I’ve taught over 2,000 people, some have Netflix shows, some are touring nationally, others are at comedy rooms around the region. Some will never do it again, but its a tick on their bucket list!’
And after thirty years on teaching stand up comedy, the enrolments keep coming, she says.
For Mandy, the main objective is that people get to have fun, and learn a different style of presentation that allows them to be themselves, while performing their own unique style of stand up. ‘Everyone is different. I love people to bring their individual insights and perspectives to the stage. It’s always thrilling!’
The Stand Up Comedy Virgin Sacrifice is the graduation performance that Mandy says ‘has a bit of a cult following. You don’t need to be a friend of relative of a student to enjoy watching someone do their first gig!’
