Ballina Cherry Street, Byron Bay, and Lismore croquet clubs region will once again host the 2026 NSW Golf Croquet Advantage Doubles and Advantage Singles State Championships that will be held from 8 to 12 July, 2026.

This will mark the sixth consecutive year that NSW state croquet events have been conducted in the region.

Registration open

This year’s tournaments feature the return of handicap Golf Croquet Doubles and Singles competitions played under the recently introduced Advantage Target Score format. Strong interest has already been received, with 15 pairs entered in the Doubles Championship and 28 players registered for the Singles Championship, including many competitors participating in both events.

The three Northern Rivers clubs have again combined their resources and volunteers to deliver a high-quality championship experience. Planning is well advanced to ensure competitors and visitors enjoy both the events, and the many attractions the region has to offer.

The championships are expected to attract approximately 40 visiting players and supporters, many of whom will stay in the region for five to six nights. The event will provide a welcome boost to local accommodation providers, restaurants, cafes, retailers and tourism operators during the winter holiday period.

Play and adventure

While many NSW state croquet events are traditionally held in the Sydney and Newcastle regions, the Northern Rivers championships provide local players with the opportunity to compete at state level without the expense and inconvenience of extensive travel and accommodation costs.

The event is also attracting players from outside the region who are looking forward to combining championship competition with a holiday in one of Australia’s premier coastal destinations. Competitors regularly comment on the quality of the region’s sporting facilities, hospitality and natural attractions, making the Northern Rivers one of the most popular destinations on the NSW croquet calendar.

Enrol now

Golf Croquet is one of Australia’s fastest-growing sports and welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Players of all handicaps are encouraged to enter and experience competitive croquet in a friendly and supportive environment.

Entries close on Friday, 26 June 2026.

The organising committee welcomes enquiries from individuals and businesses interested in supporting the championships through sponsorship and promotion opportunities.
