I refer to the NT Intervention article, Echo page 4, 17 June.
Recent events in the Northern Territory (NT) would tend to indicate that the assessments, issues and conclusions identified by Mal Brough in 2007 were substantially accurate.
Likewise, the abandonment of quarantining welfare payments, to exclude alcohol and gambling, had the expected results of increasing domestic violence, drunkenness and gratuitous crime within the NT.
The recent situation, unfortunately exposed to the world, is totally unacceptable and Australia would be better placed listening to the voice of reason from Senator Price to bring some clarity and finality to the issues.
