Byron Bay’s Main Beach was officially reopened to the public for water activities at midday today (Monday) after an earlier shark sighting.
Surf Life Savers NSW issued the advice but could not say what species of shark was seen nor how big it was.
Further north, the NSW Department of Primary Industries reported tagging and releasing a 2.22M Tiger Shark from a SMART drumline in the Tweed Shire earlier the same day.
The shark was registered at South Kingscliff Beach near Salt at 8:35 am.
