Plans for a 23-townhouse development in the outskirts of Bangalow are open to the public today, with a drop-in information session being held from 11am to 4.30pm at the Old Scouts Hall, 9 Station Street, Bangalow. The applicant says no bookings are required.
The proposal is for 23 townhouses at the end of 21 Ballina Road, Bangalow, near southern end of the town, near the highway.
According to the project website, bangalowpalms.com.au, the applicant is Payten Holdings.
There is no mention of affordable housing.

Architectural plans from the website depict the 23 units at three storeys, which contain three bedrooms, all in a long, narrow design. While there are no measurements included, the bedroom size indicates the dwellings would be around 3m wide.
Today’s consultation has been prepared ‘in accordance with Section 4.3 of the Byron Shire Development Control Plan’ to notify landowners of the proposed development ahead of a development application being lodged with Byron Shire Council.
The consultation period opened on 18 June and runs until 10 July.
The website states the process is intended to ‘inform the community about the proposed development and provide an opportunity for stakeholders to share their views before a development application is lodged’, with feedback ‘carefully considered’ and potentially used to refine the proposal before it is submitted to Council.
Architectural plans and a landscape concept plan are available to download from the website. Residents who cannot attend today’s session can submit feedback through an online form, which is emailed directly to the project team.
The consultation is being run by the applicant’s planning consultants, not by Byron Shire Council staff, and precedes any formal development application assessment process.
