
Police say a man will face court today, charged after 12 windows were allegedly smashed in Ballina last night.
Police say, ‘About 10.35pm (Thursday 9 July 2026), police were called to Martin Street following reports of a man smashing windows’.
At the scene, officers found that six windows of a courthouse and a further six windows of a nearby business were allegedly damaged.
‘Police attempted to negotiate with a man at the scene who allegedly failed to comply with police directions.
‘Officers deployed a Taser to effect the arrest of the man after he allegedly approached officers whilst armed with the bat.
‘A 29-year-old man was taken to Ballina Police Station where he was charged with two counts of destroy or damage property, and armed with intent commit indictable offence.
‘He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Friday 10 July 2026)’.
