Council is currently looking for a new volunteer with a particular interest in agriculture to join its Biodiversity and Agricultural Advisory Committee.
Staff say, ‘If you are passionate about the environment and support sustainable agriculture Byron Shire Council would like to hear from you’.
‘The committee is made up of six community members and three Councillors, as well as staff.
‘It meets once a quarter to discuss a wide range of matters involving Council, agriculture and the environment including:
- Helping Council develop and implement plans and policies such as the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and the Agriculture Action Plan
- Providing expert and community advice on a wide range of issues involving biodiversity, the environment and regenerative agriculture.
‘The term for the committee is until 2028’.
‘This is a great opportunity for people who have either a professional or community interest in agriculture to work with us to shape our projects to meet the specific needs and expectations of our residents,’ Sharyn French, Acting Director Sustainable Environment and Economy, said.
‘People can submit an Expression of Interest or get more information about the committee on Council’s Your Say website.
‘The closing date for submissions is 30 July 2026’.
