What on Earth is going on in Jonson Street, Byron Bay?
I ventured to the newsagent in the middle of town on Saturday morning at 6am when it’s still dark, and found it surrounded by a wall of orange barricades.
It was spooky.
My chat with the newsagent went along the lines of: Do you get any compensation for this disruption? Answer: No.
How much business have you lost? Answer: 50 per cent.
Why on Earth do they need to barricade you in. Answer: Don’t know. Maybe so we can’t see what is going on.
I commented that I should write on their behalf, to The Echo, so I am.
We know from all the signage that they are fixing the drains, but why do they need these huge walls which obviously cost time and money?
That isn’t fixing the drains.
Get the job done faster. Get more help if there aren’t sufficient workers.
Byron Bay has lost so many local businesses, and this is costing our only newsagent, our long-term community newsagent, 50 per cent of their business.
It’s not sustainable for a business.
Anyone reading this, go and have a look for yourself, and find a reason to go to the newsagent. They deserve our support before we lose another business.
