A familiar favourite has returned to the Mullumbimby Farmers Market, with Nudgel Nuts back for the new macadamia season.

Owner Ian McRae has been part of the Mullumbimby Farmers Market since it first opened in 2010. After some time away due to a few health issues, he’s delighted to be back with a fresh harvest and enough new-season macadamias to keep market shoppers well supplied over the coming months.

This season also sees the launch of an exciting new product called Mandarin Addiction. The indulgent treat features dark chocolate-coated macadamias rolled in a fragrant mandarin peel powder made from locally-grown, organic mandarins supplied by fellow stallholder Kate from Organic Avocados. The peel, affectionately known as ‘gold dust’, transforms what would otherwise be food waste into a vibrant citrus coating that perfectly complements the rich chocolate and creamy macadamias.

Freshness has always been at the heart of Nudgel Nuts. Ian processes his macadamias every week, ensuring customers enjoy the freshest possible product. His popular macadamia butter is made from whole nuts with no unnecessary additives and is often produced just days before the market.

Alongside the butter, customers will find natural and roasted macadamias, cooking halves, chocolate-coated treats, macadamia oil and the versatile sprinkle blend, which adds a delicious crunch to salads, desserts and even ice cream. Families can also pick up macadamias in the shell, with a nutcracker on hand so children can experience the fun of cracking them open themselves.

Macadamias are well known for their heart-friendly monounsaturated fats and antioxidants. Their cold-pressed macadamia oil has a light flavour and a high smoke point, making it an excellent choice for everyday cooking, while the nuts themselves are a delicious snack or addition to baking, salads and stir-fries.

For Ian, being back at Mullumbimby Farmers Market feels like coming home. As a proudly local business, Nudgel Nuts manages every step of the process – from harvesting and processing to packing and selling – ensuring quality and freshness from farm to customer.

You’ll find Nudgel Nuts every Friday at Mullum Farmers Market from 7am to 11am
