I was horrified when my eyes landed on the resubmitted housing/commercial DA by Landcom and Byron Shire Council at 57 Station Street, Mullumbimby.
It’s a very vital convenient carpark – haven’t we ‘been there done that’?
It was previously rejected by residents of Mullumbimby – they gave an emphatic ‘No’, to this takeover/grab.
Aren’t councillors required to act on ‘the will of the people’?
Amazingly, in a letter from state government corporation Landcom, they said (and I quote), ‘We believe that the amended application addressed Council’s concerns that the application can be supported and recommended for approval to the Northern Regional Planning Panel (NRPP)’.
Again, the ‘will of the people’ has been ignored and I question Council’s concerns.
Then again, regarding it being ‘supported’ and ‘recommended for approval’ to the NRPP… do you know who is on that Northern Regional Planning Panel?
