After five days of competition, the 2026 Soundboks Oz Grom Open saw a fairytale finish to competition yesterday at Lennox Head’s Seven Mile Beach, with huge performances, bluebird skies and local wins in dreamy two-foot conditions.
Lachlan Arghyros (Kingscliff, NSW) claimed a breakthrough victory at the 2026 Traeger Grills Pro Junior at Lennox Head, delivering a composed and high-performance display throughout the final.
Arghyros combined powerful rail surfing with progressive manoeuvres to post the highest two-wave total of the final, holding off a talented field to claim the prestigious Pro Junior title.
‘It was meant to be,’ he said.
Tahlia Tebb (Avoca Beach, NSW) continued her incredible rise through the junior ranks, taking out the women’s Pro Junior title after a confident performance in the final as well as taking out the 16 Girls division. Tebb mixed strong rail surfing with smart wave selection to edge out her fellow finalists and secure one of the biggest victories of her career.
‘I’m so stoked, I can’t believe I just won the Pro Junior as well,’ she said. ‘Coming off the 16’s win felt good but to go out there and back it up…’
Cullen claims another title
In the Under 16 Boys division, Loci Cullen continued his remarkable run of form, backing up his recent victory at the Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp just a week earlier by claiming the another title at Lennox Head.
The win marks Cullen’s third Soundboks Oz Grom Open crown in as many years, further cementing his status as one of Australia’s brightest junior surfing talents. Displaying a blend of powerful rail work, progressive aerials and composure under pressure, Cullen’s dominant week adds another major title to an already impressive 2026 campaign.
Surfers this year came from as far away as Europe, USA, Hawaii, Indonesia and Japan to make up a field of more than 270 surfers across all divisions.
Past event competitors include a range of current and former World Championship Tour winners.
