The Queensland Police Service is continuing its statewide focus on road safety through Operation Yankee Surety, as licensing requirements for e-mobility device riders commence today, Monday, August 31.
From today, all riders must hold a minimum of a valid Learner licence to ride e-mobility devices, including electric power assisted cycles (EPACs) and personal mobility devices (PMDs) such as e-scooters in Queensland.
Dangerous riders and non-compliant bikes
The Queensland Police Service ’s statewide enforcement campaign Operation Yankee Surety started on July 1 and has seen police intercept dangerous riders, target unsafe behaviours and remove non-compliant e-mobility devices from Queensland roads.
To date police have seized a total of 396 non-compliant bikes with the highest intake of 71 bikes from the Gold Coast. Queensland police issued 1,747 e-mobility related traffic infringement notices 647 of those in the Brisbane area.The state total for e-mobility drink riders was 54.
Operation Yankee Surety is continuing throughout the state.
